Star & Garter Inn

We the undersigned petition the council to take immediate action to stop the rot at Star & Garter Inn, Park Street Colnbrook in accordance with Historic England Guidelines and implement Urgent Works Notice under S54(6) of Listed Buildings Act 1990

Planning approval eight years ago has resulted in nothing but the deterioration of the building, acts of vandalism, anti-social behaviour, fly tipping, environmental health concerns, fears of destruction by fire, alarm and distress to local residents. A complete lack of concern/care by the owners.

This ePetition ran from 26/02/2024 to 20/05/2024 and has now finished.

Council response

The petition is noted and the matters it raises are currently being considered by the Council.

The Council is very concerned about the lack of progress in respect to delivering the development on site, including the conversion of the Listed Building following the granting of planning consent on the 26th June 2018 – planning ref: P/14825/008 and Listed Building Consent on 12th August 2022 – planning ref: P/14825/016. Unfortunately, the Council has no powers to enforce delivery, but it is monitoring the situation closely.

Council planning and enforcement officers are in contact with the developer and have visited the site recently to seek to improve its condition and avoid any further damage to the Listed Building and harm to neighbouring residential amenity, and the local environment.

The developer is currently seeking to discharge the outstanding planning conditions associated with the consented scheme to enable works to continue on-site and in respect to the Listed Building, as soon as possible.

Enforcement officers and the Councils’ Heritage Advisor will be undertaking a further visit to the site shortly to check again on the condition of the site and the Listed Building and, if necessary, take remedial action.

I trust that this this information is useful but please contact me should you have any queries of course.
