Minutes:
The Director of Law and Corporate Governance submitted for consideration a copy of the Standards Board for England’s Consultation Paper entitled “A Code for the Future” which sought views on a number of issues relating to the current Local Code of Conduct for Members in the form of questions to which the Board was seeking responses by 17th June.
The purpose of the consultation was to review the effectiveness of the Code of Conduct and explore ways in which it could be simplified, clarified and improved.
The Director of Law and Corporate Governance submitted suggested draft responses to the questions proposed in the Consultation document which the Committee considered in detail during which a number of amendments were proposed and accepted.
Resolved – That the responses to the questions proposed in the Consultation Paper “A Code for the Future” as now amended be approved for submission to the Standards Board for England.
