Decision details

To receive a report on the Council’s equality objectives as part of the duties under the public sector equality duty which requires all public authorities to consider how its policies and activities affect people protected under the Equality Act.

(a)  Approved the draft equality objectives attached at Appendix A for the purposes of consultation.

(b)  Agreed that a report will be brought back to Cabinet with a view to final objectives being approved by Cabinet and Full Council early in 2024.

(c)  Noted that the report was presented to Corporate Improvement Scrutiny Committee on 24 October and a letter from the Chair has been sent to the Leader including additional recommendations for consideration by Cabinet (Appendix C).
